Kindergarten Geometry ยท Texas TEKS K.6E
Shapes can be flat (2D) or solid (3D). Some flat shapes have equal sides; others have sides of different lengths. A square is still a square even when it is turned!
Sort 2D pictures and 3D objects.
Check the lengths of sides, even when shapes are tilted.
Compare cubes with longer or taller rectangular boxes.
Rotation does not change a shape's properties.
Parent tip: When a child finishes, turn paper shapes or real blocks to different positions and ask what stays the same. For a full TEKS K.6E check, also sort varied real 3D solids with an adult.
